Hurghada is a coastal city that serves as the largest city and
capital of the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt. Hurghada has grown
from a small fishing village to one of the largest resort destinations
along the Red Sea coast. Hurghada was founded in the early 20th
century. it was a small fishing village Hurghada is a popular holiday
destination for Europeans, especially during the winter, and some
spend Christmas and New Year there. Many of Hurghada's newer
hotels, restaurants, and shops are located along El Mamsha. The city
is served by the Hurghada International Airport with scheduled
passenger traffic connecting to Cairo and directly to several cities
in Europe. There are diving sites around Giftun Islands, Abu Ramada
Island and Fanadir.
